BEURRE BEURRE at Hyundai Department Store Ulsan is a retail space designed to clearly communicate the brand identity of an ice cream specialty shop within a department store environment. Working within the constraints of limited space and a tight construction schedule, the design focused on establishing a simple yet impactful spatial structure that effectively consolidates the brand image.
The layout is organized around a long linear counter, guiding customers naturally through a “order–pickup” sequence. The approximately 8-meter straight display counter enhances visual focus while ensuring an efficient operational workflow behind it. The full-height graphic wall at the rear functions as a bold branding device, allowing the space itself to operate almost like a three-dimensional advertisement.
A white base palette provides clarity and cleanliness, while strong red and blue brand colors create high contrast and visual recognition within the dynamic department store setting. Glass display cases and stainless steel finishes reinforce a hygienic and refined image. Uniform downlighting ensures that both the product displays and large-scale graphics remain the focal points of the space.
To accommodate the short construction period required for department store tenancy, furniture, signage, and lighting elements were pre-fabricated and strategically prepared for streamlined on-site installation. This approach enabled efficient execution while maintaining design precision and quality control. Ultimately, the project delivers a compact, graphic-driven retail environment that communicates the brand’s playful and direct character with clarity and confidence, without relying on excessive decorative elements.
